The seven year programme will have a budget of\u00a0<strong>\u20ac14.7 billion<\/strong>. This represents a\u00a0<strong>40% increase<\/strong>\u00a0compared to current spending levels and shows the EU&#8217;s commitment to investing in these areas.<\/p>\n<p>Erasmus+ will provide\u00a0<strong>opportunities for over 4 million Europeans<\/strong>\u00a0to study, train, gain work experience and volunteer abroad. In addition to providing grants for individuals, Erasmus+ will support<strong>transnational partnerships<\/strong>\u00a0among\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/education\/index_en.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Education<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/education\/index_en.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Training<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/youth\/index_en.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Youth<\/a>\u00a0institutions and organisations to foster cooperation and bridge the worlds of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/education\/index_en.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Education<\/a>\u00a0and work in order to tackle the skills gaps we are facing in Europe. It will also support national efforts to modernise\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/education\/index_en.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Education<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/education\/index_en.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Training<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/youth\/index_en.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Youth<\/a>systems. In the field of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/sport\/index_en.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sport<\/a>, there will be support for grassroots projects and cross-border challenges such as combating match-fixing, doping, violence and racism.<\/p>\n<p>Erasmus+ brings together seven existing EU programmes in the fields of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/education\/index_en.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Education<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/education\/index_en.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Training<\/a>\u00a0and<a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/youth\/index_en.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Youth<\/a>; it will for the first time provide support for\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/sport\/index_en.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sport<\/a>.
