Topic of this international event was “Disinformation and media literacy”, held in Vilnius, Lithuania. On September 22nd 2023, participants from EU countries had the opportunity to discuss about disinformation which is information that “is false and deliberately created to harm a person, social group, organization or country”. Disinformation and fake news can be identified by some authors as financial, political, social and/or psychological.
The Audiovisual Media Services Directive (AVMSD) defines media literacy as the “skills, knowledge and understanding that allow consumers to use media effectively and safely”, allowing them to make informed choices and “enabling them to access information and to use, critically assess and create media content responsibly and safely”.

The second part of the meeting was organised by local experts. Three topics were presented by the Strategic Communication Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, by the Asian and Transcultural Studies Institute of Vilnius University and finally by an expert on Civic resilience initiative. The presentations included disinformation and the factors fighting against this as well as exploring attitudes towards Muslims in Lithuanian Society and media.
